Doors Open

Amish Traditions opened their doors in Spring of 2003 on Old Bridgeport Hill Road in Clarksburg, WV.  Ron opened the store with the help of his parents, Draper and Alberta,
as well as his son, Kevin.  The family’s vision for the business was to provide quality furniture at an affordable price while seeking to follow Christ in each business decision and customer
interaction.

Growth & Expansion

By 2007, Kevin completed his undergraduate studies at West Virginia University and stepped into a full-time role at Amish Traditions.  Draper’s health care needs had increased, and he and Alberta began staying at home to take care.  Faithful customers patronized the store and brought the family great joy with each interaction. The aisles in the store became more crowded as inventory grew and the showroom expanded.

Next Generation Ownership

By 2015, many events had occurred that can only be attributed to the providential hand of God. In May of 2015, Amish Traditions moved to a new location in Valley Hills Shopping Plaza (currently known as “The Square”) in Bridgeport, WV.  The new location was an exciting upgrade as it offered greater floor space, a huge parking lot to display outdoor Amish Crafted Products, and a rear warehouse complete with loading dock.  Amish Traditions had grown to become a fully functioning furniture store!  Also during this time, Kevin became partners with Ron by adopting partial ownership in the business.

Transitioning From Brick & Mortar

By 2018, Amish Traditions’ customer base had grown significantly.  Each working day, customers would shop the store and allow the staff to become part of their family through conversations about the customers’ new furniture they were choosing for their family and home.  Since the store deals in heirloom quality furniture, many families who had purchased Amish Convertible Cribs for their newborn children that transform into Full Size Beds had returned to buy Desks to match the Beds to send with their children to college. Amish Traditions became a staple in the Bridgeport community and well respected by local government officials. Also in 2018, the providential hand of God was again revealed.  Ron had reached retirement age, and through a series of difficult decisions, Ron and Kevin felt peace about closing the brick-and-mortar store and transitioning to a web based store.

By 2024, Amish Traditions had found a sweet rhythm of continuing to work with the same Amish families that built the furniture for the brick-and-mortar store to provide furniture for customers near and far.  Kevin had moved to Salem, VA and married Sarah, his bride.  A network of professional home delivery teams had been established that were committed to taking excellent care of the store’s customers during deliveries as well as their furniture during transit – nationwide!  With this system in place, Amish Traditions launched a brand-new website that is fully featured in the latest technologies in e-commerce. The store’s vision remains the same as in the beginning – to provide quality furniture at an affordable price while seeking to follow Christ in each business decision and customer interaction.
